Casey McGehee met eleven kids from Miyagi Children's Hospital before today's game against the Seibu Lions.  McGehee's son Mackail is battling cerebral palsy.

"As the father of a child with a disorder, I would like to do what I can to help, to provide strength/courage.  Even if [I can] only spend a short amount of time with them, I want them to have fun.  I want to keep doing these kinds of things with the help of the organization," said McGehee.

2nd round draft pick Takahiro Norimoto won his eighth game of the year on Saturday.  Only two other rookies in franchise history have won more games in one season: Masahiro Tanaka with eleven in 2007 and Takahiro Shiomi with nine in 2011.

Norimoto set a new franchise high for victories by a rookie pitcher before the All-Star break with eight.  Tanaka held the previous record with seven.  Shiomi won three before the All-Star break in 2011.  Norimoto also set a franchise speed record for a rookie pitcher by notching his eighth victory in his seventeenth start and in the team's seventy-eighth game.  Tanaka won his eighth game in his eighteenth start and in the team's eighty-ninth game; Shiomi in his twenty-third start and in the team's 140th game.

Norimoto has so far logged 107.2 innings of work.  He could become just the third pitcher to toss 200 innings in his first year since 1990.  The other two: Hideo Nomo threw 235.0 innings in 1990 and Hirokazu Sawamura threw 200.0 innings in 2011.
