Nippon Ham Fighters

6th round draft pick Shogo Yagi had been working out with the Ichi-gun roster since the 12th.  He was added to the active roster today to give the bullpen a little more depth before the All-Star break.

Yuki Saito started a Ni-gun game against the Giants today.  He gave up three runs on three hits (including a solo homer in the 1st) over 3.2 innings of work.  He threw seventy-five pitches and topped out at 138km/h.  His next Ni-gun start could come on the 24th against Seibu at Seibu 2 Stadium.

1st round draft pick Shohei Otani became the first the first rookie drafted out of high school to record home runs in his second straight game since Hideki Matsui in 1993.  He is also the first rookie drafted out of high school to record a pinch-hit home run in twenty-three years.

Seibu Lions

Hideaki Wakui started a Ni-gun game against Yakult today and gave up two runs on four hits over six innings of work.  This was his first outing since he started an Ichi-gun game on June 27 (vs Rakuten).  He is scheduled to pitch in another Ni-gun game after the All-Star break.

Rakuten Eagles

The Eagles blanked the Orix Buffaloes 1-0.  They are now guaranteed a first place finish in the first half, a first in franchise history.
