[7/17/2013] Injury Updates: Luna (CHU) to miss All-Star Series; Kuriyama concerned about Nakata (HAM)
The NPB announced today that Hector Luna will miss the All-Star Series with inflammation in the iliotibial band of his left knee. Yomiuri Giant Takayuki Terauchi will take his spot on the roster.
In addition to missing the All-Star Series, Luna will not be allowed back onto the active roster for ten regular season games after the All-Star break (he will be eligible to rejoin the roster on August 4).
Luna was originally hoping to return to the starting line-up on the 15th against Hiroshima at Mazda Stadium, but when the day came, the pain returned and he had to cut his practices short. After talking things over with the coaches and trainers, the team decided to take Luna off the active roster.
The Dragons signed Luna to a two-year extension in June and most likely do not want to take any risks.

Hideki Kuriyama is concerned about Sho Nakata's injury (base of the right thumb) and is reconsidering his usage plans during the All-Star Series, especially since the slugger is also scheduled to appear in all three home run derbies.
"I was planning to use him in all the games, but I have to think about that. If he does start, he will bat fourth," said Kuriyama.
