Hiroshima Carp

The Carp initially thought Tomonori Maeda (left wrist) might be able to return to the active roster some time after the All-Star break in July, but it now seems he will not be able to make it back until some time in September.

According to the team trainer, the team learned that Maeda resumed taking soft-toss batting practice using both hands after they were told his left wrist was at about ninety percent during an evaluation at a hospital on the 16th.

Hanshin Tigers

Kosuke Fukudome (left knee) worked out in right during situational fielding practice at Naruohama on Saturday.  He could begin participating in situational batting practice sessions on Monday.  He will be cleared to play in rehab games once he is able to run the bases (including sliding).

Yamato took batting practice on Saturday, during workouts at Koshien, for the first time since he suffered a bruise on his right middle finger against Yomiuri on the 16th.  He is hoping to return to the starting line-up on the 24th (vs Yakult).
