Tatsunori Hara is scheduled to give team chairman Tsuneo Watanabe and team owner Kojiro Shiraishi a report on the first-half some time after the All-Star series.  The three could also begin discussions about a contract extension since Hara is in the final year of a two-year deal.

Yakult Swallows

Ryo Hidaka, Tatsuyoshi Masubuchi, Yuya Ota, Tatsuya Oba, and Taiyo Fujita are scheduled to join Ichi-gun workouts on Sunday.  They are slated to toss batting practice.  One or more of the pitchers could be promoted based on how well they do during their Ichi-gun assignment.

Hanshin Tigers

Ichi-gun and Ni-gun practices resumed on Saturday -- Ichi-gun at Koshien and Ni-gun at Naruohama.  An intra-squad game is scheduled on the 22nd.  The Tigers will use the game to test potential candidates (like Minoru Iwata, Takumi Akiyama, Ken Nishimura, and Tomoyuki Kubota) for the sixth spot in the starting rotation.  They are also hoping to find a lefty (such as Kazuya Takamiya and Masanori Fujihara) that might be able to help bolster the bullpen.

The Tigers are looking for a left-handed bat that can play first or third for the team next year.  Pitching is also becoming a concern.  The organization is planning to put together a list of foreign candidates by mid-August.  GM Katsuhiro Nakamura is scheduled to fly to the US in late-August to check on talent on the list, but not before he has had a chance to evaluate draft candidates during the upcoming Summer Koshien tournament.

Sponichi and Sports Hochi claim Nakamura will be heading to the States to check on potential closer candidates for the 2014 season.  Jose Arredondo and Ramon Troncoso are mentioned as players the Tigers have included in their list of candidates.

Yokohama Bay Stars

Yuki Kuniyoshi, Kisho Kagami, and Shoichi Ino joined the Ichi-gun team for workouts at Yokosuke on Saturday.  Kiyoshi Nakahata is hoping the three young pitchers can get their act together for the second-half because the team needs more starting pitchers.
