The Pacific League held a special board of directors meeting today. A number of issues were discussed including, but not limited to:
- Both the PL and CL are set to start the 2014 season on March 28. The PL agreed to the date for opening day. The CL is expected to agree on the date during their special board of directors meeting on Thursday. The date for opening day will be finalized during an executive committee meeting in September. - The PL is in favor of setting up a selection committee when determining future commissioners. Rakuten Eagles' acting owner Tomoharu Inoue provided one suggestion: "The selection committee will be made up of one or two owners from each league. Each team will submit candidates and the selection committee will narrow down the choices. The final decision will be made at an owner meeting." Source: Sports Hochi 7/24/2013

Home teams for opening day 2014 will most likely be Yomiuri, Chunichi, Yakult, Softbank, Nippon Ham, and Seibu.

The Central League held their special board of directors meeting on Thursday and discussed options for how to select future NPB commissioners. The CL has narrowed things down but has yet to work out all the details. The CL and PL board chairmen will continue deliberations and the matter will be further discussed during a twelve-team meeting on August 5. The hope is to have an outline drafted by the owner meeting on September 19.
