Hideki Kuriyama could bat Shohei Otani third to break up the right-handed bats in the top-half of the order.

According to Sports Hochi, Otani's next Ichi-gun start could come as early as the 28th vs Softbank at YafuOku Dome.  Nikkan Sports thinks his next start could come on the 30th against Lotte at QVC Marine.

With pitchers Hiroshi Kisanuki, Mitsuo Yoshikawa, Masaru Takeda, Brian Wolfe, Keisuke Tanimoto, Bobby Keppel, and Justin Thomas available, Kuriyama can afford to take things a bit easy with Otani, in terms of using him as a starter.

Hayato Terahara is one Rakuten victory away from joining Kimiyasu Kudo and Toshiya Sugiuchi as the only players in NPB history to record victories against all twelve current NPB teams plus Kintetsu.  He lost his start against the Eagles on Wednesday.
