Orix Buffaloes' team official Yoshio Murayama spoke to reporters on Monday about Yoshio Itoi and said the organization was not planning to post the thirty-two-year-old outfielder after the 2013 season. He also said that they have keep lines of communication open with Itoi and that he has yet to mention anything about wanting to be posted.
Itoi has reportedly told people close to him that he would like to play in the Majors at some point in the future, but with the Buffaloes gearing up to celebrate their fiftieth anniversary next year (to clarify, the parent company Orix), it seems there is little chance of him being posted after the season.
Assuming no injuries or demotions, Itoi could earn his international FA option as early as 2017.
