The media learned on Wednesday that Kazuhiro Hatakeyama hurt his left side and will be evaluated at a hospital in Tokyo today.  There is a possibility he has a strain in his left abdominal internal oblique muscle.  At worst, he could miss the rest of the season.

Hatakeyama suffered the injury while taking fielding practice at the Ni-gun facilities in Toda on Tuesday.

Pitching coach Kiyooki Nakanishi wanted to use Blaine Boyer for two innings against the Yokohama Bay Stars on Wednesday but decided to pull him after one inning because the reliever complained of tightness in his right shoulder.  He was taken off the active roster today.
