The Dragons announced they will hold a retirement ceremony for Takeshi Yamasaki on October 5 (vs Yokohama). It will be the last home game of the season. Three kinds of special ticket packages will be available for the game: replica alternate red uniform plus commemorative ticket (seventy-seven sets, 6,800 yen each), special edition t-shirt plus commemorative ticket (seventy-seven sets, 5,800 yen each), commemorative ticket (222 sets, 4,800 yen each).

Morimichi Takagi started talking about yanking Yudai Ono out of the in the 4th inning of Thursday's game against the Hiroshima Carp. Pitching coach Shinji Imanaka advised the manager to be patient. Takagi allowed Ono to stay in the game, but not without telling Imanaka it would be his responsibility if any runs crossed the plate. Ono was finally replaced in the 5th with runners on first and third and two out.

The players worked out at Nagoya Stadium on Thursday. Wladimir Balentien took thirty-seven swings during batting practice and hit nine over the fence. Of the nine, two hit the scoreboard in center and three (two to left and one to left-center) traveled over the protective twenty-meter high netting.
