Nippon Ham Fighters

Naoki Miyanishi became the third player in NPB history, first in the PL, to make fifty or more appearances in six or more consecutive seasons, beginning with his rookie year.  The other two: Hitoki Iwase (fourteen seasons, 1999-2012) and Noboru Akiyama (nine seasons, 1956-1964).

Softbank Hawks

The Hawks used all ten of their available pitchers on Wednesday.  Had they needed an eleventh, they most likely would have turned to Kenta Imamiya.

Akira Niho and Daichi Hoshino had to borrow uniforms because they were called up to join Ichi-gun practices on Thursday somewhat unexpectedly.  Niho borrowed a uniform from Shota Takeda and Hoshino from Hirofumi Yamanaka.

The Marines announced they promoted Yuichi Komaki from bullpen catcher to bullpen assistant.  The move was made in case pitching coach Akio Saito needs more time off.

Yoshio Itoi was presented with Daily Sports' Orix Gekirei Series MVP Award (fourteen home games at Kyocera Dome and Hotto Motto Kobe between July 24 and August 25).
