Daily Sports has posted portions of Shintaro Fujinami's MVP of the Month press conference.
You won the award. How do you feel?
I am happy and I am honored to receive the award. I will continue to do my best.
What are your thoughts on the MVP of the Month award?
I think it is an award that goes to the player that works hard and performs well. Up until this year, I worked to be at my best during the summer. I think that may have stuck with me.
You joined Nomi and Messenger and got the team the award four months in a row.
I was just the last one to get it. It was good of Nomi and Messenger to keep it going.
Is there are a game that sticks out for you?
If I had to pick one, it would be the Chunichi game. I was able to make good pitches and there was talk about being the first in a number of years. And it was an honor to be linked to such a great player. I would like to do my best to get even a little closer [to him].
What was it that allowed you to record a 1.09 ERA [in August]?
There was nothing specific that I changed, but I felt good.
What about September and the Rookie of the Year Award?
[I am not thinking about] the Rookie of the Year award and things like that. I just want to carefully focus on each game, one at a time. If that results in an award, I would of course be happy...
What would you like to accomplish in the remaining games?
There are not a lot of games remaining, so I want to do what I can and make each game count.
