The Dragons announced today that Bradley Bergesen returned to the US out of Chubu International Airport.  He cleared waivers and was officially named a free agent by the commissioner's office today.  Upon returning to the US, Bergesen plans to get his right shoulder examined.

Yomiuri Giants

Climax Series tickets will go on sale to the general public on October 5.  Various advance ticket sales will begin on September 16.  For more information, check the official team site.

Pitching coach Kazuhisa Kawaguchi is planning to move Hirokazu Sawamura to the bullpen.  Sawamura has not been able to win a game since June 21.  He has had a number of tough games since then, but his more recent outings have been inconsistent, if not lacking.

The Giants scored nine runs in the 6th inning of Sunday's game against the Hanshin Tigers at Koshien Stadium.  The last time they scored nine runs in an inning was on April 24 vs Yokohama (8th inning).  The last time they did it at Koshien Stadium was on April 25, 1998 (1st inning).

In scoring nine runs, the offense went yard three times.  The last time they hit three home runs in one inning was on August 21, 2012 vs Yakult (5th inning - Kazunari Sanematsu, Hayato Sakamoto, Shinnosuke Abe).  The last time they did it at Koshien Stadium was on May 2, 1995 (7th inning - Shinichi Murata, Katsuya Kishikawa, Shane Mack).

Yakult Swallows

Yasuhiro Ogawa won his thirteenth game on Sunday and became the first rookie in franchise history to win thirteen games since Yoshio Kitagawa in 1959.

The Swallows played their last game of the season at Nagoya Dome on Sunday.  Before the game, the Chunichi Dragons held a mini-retirement ceremony for Shinya Miyamoto.  Chunichi Dragon Motonobu Tanishige presented him with flowers.
