Rakuten Eagles

Senichi Hoshino is not planning to set the starting rotation just to give Masahiro Tanaka a shot at 100 victories this season.  Instead, he wants to give Tanaka extra time in between starts to keep him fresh.

For now, it seems Tanaka's next start will come on the 21st against Nippon Ham on seven days of rest.

It is crunch time for the Orix Buffaloes.

"I told this to the trainer as well, it is not about whether or not [Takuya Shimada's] nose is broken.  It is about whether or not he can play.  There's not enough passion.  Ichi-gun is a battle field.  We need strength.  The things I say from here on out will be pretty severe," said Hiroshi Moriwaki.

The Buffaloes will be ready to discuss numbers with Dae-Ho Lee and Aarom Baldiris once the season ends.  The organization is hoping to keep both players in Orix uniforms.

The Buffaloes are reportedly no longer interested in Samsung reliever/closer Seung-Hwan Oh because they have a greater need for a starting pitcher.  They also apparently want to avoid getting into a bidding war with other NPB teams like Hanshin, Chunichi, and Rakuten.

The organization feels they can make do with their current closer Yoshihisa Hirano.
