The coaches held a meeting after Monday's loss to the Yokohama Bay Stars.  It lasted about thirty minutes and was mostly about throwing all pre-conceived notions out the window and doing whatever necessary to win.  That includes having the clean-up batter bunt, if the situation calls for it.

Hanshin Tigers

The Tigers are going to give Minoru Iwata a look out of the bullpen to see if he is an arm they can use during the post-season.

The team had a difficult time making it down to Hiroshima on Monday because of the typhoon.  Katsuhiko Saka left for Hiroshima at 4:00pm and did not arrive at the team hotel until about 10:00pm.  A separate group of players, including Takashi Toritani and Takeshi Hidaka, left after 6:00pm and arrived at midnight.

If Atsushi Nomi and Randy Messenger start the first two games of the First Stage of the Climax Series and a third game is required, the Tigers could turn to Shinataro Fujinami.

Fujinami should get at least three more starts before the end of the regular season.
