Rcents updates on NPB interst in KBO Samsung pitcher Seung-Hwan Oh. (Some of this will be a rehash of past updates.)
- The Softbank Hawks have struggled with consistency in their closer role this season -- they have a number of different pitchers and none were able to secure the job, either due to injury or performance.
- The Orix Buffaloes reportedly pulled themselves out of the Oh sweepstakes because they want to spend money on a starter, not a reliever, according to a report by Daily Sports on the 17th. They also have no interest in getting into a bidding war.
- Sanspo reported on the 17th that the Hanshin Tigers were preparing a two-year deal worth 700 million yen. It could be similar to the first deal Orix gave Dae-Ho Lee: signing bonus of 200 million yen, yearly salary of 250 million yen.
- Teams that have been mentioned as being interested: Hanshin, Chunichi, Rakuten, Orix, Softbank. A number of MLB teams are also said to be interested.
