Sho Nakata was examined at a Sapporo hospital on Wednesday. He was given the green light to resume hitting workouts because the fracture in his left pinky was showing signs of improvement. If his next evaluation on October 2 goes well, he could return to the active roster on the same day.
Nakata took seventy-one swings during soft-toss batting practice and his twenty-seven over the fence. He later told reporters he was swinging the bat at about fifty to sixty percent. He is expected to move up to live batting practice around the 28th or 29th.
