Hiroshima Carp

The Carp went fifteen years in between top three finishes.  They were the last team in the NPB (including Kintetsu) to record a top three finish since the start of the 21st Century.

The NPB record of twenty consecutive bottom three finishes was set by Nankai/Daiei between 1978 and 1997.  The CL record of eighteen years was set by Hiroshima between 1950 and 1967.

Hanshin Tigers

The media learned that GM Katsuhiro Nakamura has taken another trip to the US to conduct additional checks on candidates that can bat clean-up.  It seems the Tigers are expanding their search to include all positions, not just third base.
