Kenichi Nakata

The Tigers are planning to look into domestic free agents that require no compensation.  One such player could be Kenichi Nakata -- he earned his domestic option in August and will be a C level free agent.

Alex Ramirez

According to a Daily Sports report on Sunday, the Chiba Lotte Marines are planning to look into Alex Ramirez.

The Marines are looking for a right-handed bat that can provide some pop.  They feel Ramirez might fit the bill: they know he can be a liability on defense, but feel he still has enough left in the tank to help the team with his bat.  They also think signing him would be less of a risk than a player that has no experience in the NPB.  Plus, they like his potential marketability.

Would Ramirez be eligible for the playoffs? This is a weird one since he was released by Yokohama and I am not sure of the rules on this one.

    +Muratafan,

The trade deadline for this season is well past, so this would be for next season.

Also, _senryokugai_ means he’s being notified that he won’t be re-signed. I think it’s getting a “pink slip” in the majors. He’s still a BayStar until the season ends. I do hope that they’ll do something for him with the top team before saying goodbye.
