Nippon Ham Fighters

Many of the veterans, like Masaru Takeda, Atsunori Inaba, Makoto Kaneko, and Eiichi Koyano, could see moderate to large cuts in their salary due to drops in performance.

Seibu Lions

The Lions recorded their fourth walk-off of the month on Sunday -- 15th vs Lotte, 24th vs Rakuten, 25th vs Rakuten, 29th vs Lotte.  The last teams in franchise history to record four walk-offs in one month was Nishitetsu in April 1961 and Seibu in September 1997.

Masato Kumashiro learned that his wife gave birth to their first child, a boy weighing 2,616 grams, during Sunday's game against the Chiba Lotte Marines.  Kumashiro capped off his day with a walk-off in the 10th.

Softbank Hawks

Nobuhiko Matsunaka is expected to participate in the Pheonix League that begins on October 7.

Rakuten Eagles

The Eagles are planning to hold a victory ceremony after their game against Lotte at Kleenex Stadium on October 3.  The NPB will present the team with their pennant and the players will get to walk one lap around the field.

October 3 will be their first home game since they clinched the PL pennant on the 26th.

    Wow. In Toronto, Mune Kawasaki took three days off to be with his wife when she had their first child. It appears work is more important than family in Japan.
