Balentien was not in the starting line-up tonight.

Hanshin Tigers

Atsushi Nomi was taken off the active roster on Wednesday because he is not scheduled to pitch over the next ten days.  It apparently had nothing to do with the cut he suffered on his left ring finger during his last start on the 1st.

With regards to Blaine Boyer, Yutaka Wada hinted at an injury he may have sustained during his outing on the 1st by saying they did not want to prolong his recovery.

Nippon Ham Fighters

Sho Nakata was added to the active roster on Thursday even though his doctor feels he will not be able to play until the last game of the season.  Hideki Kuriyama wants to use him and Nakata wants to play, but people around him are advising him not to rush things.

Yuki Saito's right shoulder pain was so bad that at one point he could not hold a cup.  He turned down surgery as an option and instead worked on streamlining his mechanics to put less strain on his shoulder.

Saito is expected to participate in the upcoming Phoenix League.  The Fighters are hoping he will be able to pitch in at least three games.  How he does will determine whether or not he attends fall camp.
