Nihon Seimei MVP Awards

Shingo Kawabata, Yakult Swallows (First Time)
23 G, 35-for-89, 2 HR, 16 RBI, .393 BA

Won the award for the first time in his career.  Played in all twenty-three of his team's games in September.  Collected at least one hit in nineteen games and multiple hits in ten (three or more hits in five).  Led the league in batting average in September.  First Japanese Yakult player to win the award since Shinya Miyamoto in April 2011.

Bryan Bullington, Hiroshima Carp (Second Time)
4 G, 4-0, 0 CG, 27.0 IP, 19 K, 3 ER, 1.00 ERA

His four victories to no losses and league-leading 1.00 ERA were a big reason for his selection.  Won his first award in April 2011.  First foreign player in Carp history to win the award multiple times.  Joined Terry Bross (April 1995, September 1995), Seth Greisinger (June 2007, July 2008), and Jason Standridge (June 2011, July 2011) as the only players in league history to win the award mulitple times.

Pacific League

Nihon Seimei MVP Awards

Yuya Hasegawa, Softbank Hawks (Second Time)
24 G, 36-for-95, 5 HR, 12 RBI, .379 BA

Played in all twenty-four of his team's games in September.  Led the league in batting average, hits, slugging (.600), and total bases (57).  Recorded first five hit game on September 4; hit a walk-off double on September 15; hit a walk-off triple on September 28.  Won first award in June 2013.

Masahiro Tanaka, Rakuten Eagles (Twelfth Time, fifth in a row)
4 G, 3-0, 1 Sv, 27.0 IP, 29 K, 4 ER, 1.33 ERA

Pitched in four games in September.  Tied for the league-lead in wins.  Tossed two complete games.  Extended his 2013 winning streak to twenty-two games.  Recorded his first save in four years when his team won the pennant on September 26.
