Michel Abreu left Hokkaido to return home on Tuesday.  Abreu is planning to donate some baseball equipment when he returns to Cuba in November.

Abreu signed a deal worth an estimated twenty million yen this year.  It also included an option that will raise his salary to about fifty million in 2014.  The team is expected to exercise the option.

Seibu Lions

It was Kazuhisa Ishii's last official regular season game on Tuesday.  He handed out about 100 bottles of champagne (tens of thousands of yen per bottle) to coaches, players, and staff before the game.  He also invited a number of people to the game, including Norichika Aoki and talento Hideyuki Nakayama, and prepared special boxed lunches for them.

Rakuten Eagles

Masahiro Tanaka is the sixth pitcher in NPB history to record twenty-four or more wins than losses, first since Kazuhisa Inao went 42-14 in 1961.  His three consecutive seasons of ERAs under 2.00 is third longest behind Yu Darvish's five seasons (2007-2011) and Inao's four seasons (1956-1959).
