Yomiuri Giants

Toshiya Sugiuchi is scheduled to pitch in a Phoenix League game on the 12th.  The Giants will likely use the outing to determine how best to use him during the Climax Series.

Hanshin Tigers

The Tigers have placed a ban on all media queries to starting pitchers after practices.  They have also taken precautions to make sure the media cannot see or hear what is being done in the bullpen -- they do not want to give anything away.

Atsushi Nomi turned down a chance to toss some situational batting practice in between his last regular season start on the 1st and his first Climax Series start on the 13th.  The decision reportedly had nothing to do with the cut he suffered on his finger during his last start on the 1st.

Since Hiroshima has three right-handed starters, the Tigers could counter by shifting Kosuke Fukudome to center and starting Ryota Imanari in right.

The Tigers started selling First Stage Climax Series tickets (three games) at 10:00am on Wednesday and were sold out after about two-and-a-half hours.

Hiroshima Carp

Yuske Nomura is scheduled to start Thursday's practice game against Industrial League JFE Higashi Nihon.

According to Daily Sports, if the Carp decide not to go with Bryan Bullington as their Game 2 starter (something that most likely will not be decided until his last bullpen session before the start), they will have two options: either go with Kan Otake (currently slated to start Game 3) or spot start a reliever like Yuichi Hisamoto or Keisuke Imai.

According to Nikkan Sports, Bullington has been feeling a little under the weather.  His lack of work (his last start was on September 25) and health may have contributed to his performance on Tuesday.

Takeru Imamura joined the Ichi-gun team on Tuesday.  He will most likely be used in middle relief during the First Stage of the Climax Series.

Rakuten Eagles

Twelve position players stayed back for extra workouts after Tuesday's game against the Orix Buffaloes.  They spent about thirty minutes fielding pop flies under the lights of the stadium.  The players and coaches wanted to check on night game conditions ahead of the Climax Series -- their last two regular season games are afternoon games.

Seibu Lions
