[10/10/2013] Rumors: Chunichi Dragons, Yakult Swallows, Hanshin Tigers, Yokohama Bay Stars, Orix Buffaloes

Chunichi Dragons

The Dragons are interested in improving their catching depth and will likely look into Ryoji Aikawa (Yakult) and Shinya Tsuruoka (Nippon Ham).  Both players could become free agents.

They may also be interested in Michihiro Ogasawara (Yomiuri).

Yakut Swallows

The Swallows are looking for pitchers and a shortstop.  If Hiroyuki Nakajima decides to return to Japan, they could be interested.

Ni-gun pitching coach Akimitsu Ito, Ni-gun OF/base-running coach Kazuki Fukuchi, Ni-gun battery coach Kosei Ono will likely be promoted to Ichi-gun.  Ichi-gun batting coach Takahiro Ikeyama is the top candidate to take over as Ni-gun manager.  Current Ni-gun manager Mitsuru Manaka and Ni-gun batting coach Shigeru Sugimura could also be reassigned to Ichi-gun coaching positions.

Katsunori Nomura is a leading candidate for the Ni-gun battery coach job.

Hanshin Tigers

The Tigers are prepared to give Randy Messenger a fairly hefty raise and a multi-year deal.  However, he is said to have an interest in the Majors and a number of teams, including the Blue Jays, Royals, Angels, Braves, Nationals, and Dodgers, have sent scouts to watch him pitch this year.

Hanshin would also like to bring Matt Murton back next year.

Yokohama Bay Stars

The Bay Stars are hoping to hire Tatsuya Shindo for a currently unnamed Ichi-gun coaching position.  Head coach is a possibility.

There are plans to make current bullpen pitching coach Takeo Kawamura the new chief pitching coach and promote current Ni-gun batting coach Iwao Omura to Ichi-gun.

The Buffaloes are planning to offer Kei Igawa a contract for the 2014 season.
