An update on posting system talks between the MLB and the NPB, from the New York Daily News' Mark Feinsand:
According to three industry sources, there have been significant talks between Major League Baseball and Nippon Professional Baseball that could change the current posting system, allowing the player more freedom in choosing his big-league destination.
While nothing has been finalized, the new system would likely have major-league teams submitting bids, then the player would be told which three clubs had the highest bids. The player could then choose which team he wanted to negotiate with, giving him the opportunity to have some say in his future.
According to one source, the talks have been ongoing, but a deal "isn't imminent" and is unlikely to be reached before Tanaka is posted. Another source confirmed the talks between the two leagues, but indicated that any changes "would not be a stark departure" from the current system.
