Shinji Tajima is hoping to drop a few kilograms during the winter -- he currently weighs about eighty-eight kilograms.

A problem (fluid build-up) was found in Yuta Muto's right elbow during a recent medical examination.  Muto does not feel any pain, but he will be shut down for a little while.  His Phoenix League assignment has also been canceled.

Yakult Swallows

The Swallows are planning to carefully check on player eating habits during fall camp.  Evening practices will also make a return.  Coaches will be talking to players on an individual basis to make sure they know what is expected of them.

Naoto Nishida was forced to return to the Naruohama training facilities on Wednesday after breaking a team rule.  There is no mention of what he did.

Masayuki Kakefu's official job title not only includes player development and hitting coordinator, but also GM responsibilities.  He will not outrank current GM Katsuhiro Nakamura, but will be there to support and provide assistance.

Kakefu's main role will be to help develop young talent.  He is expected to take on a special coaching role during fall and spring camp.
