Shohei Otani threw thirty-four pitches in the bullpen on Friday in preparation for a Phoenix League start on Saturday.

Hideki Kuriyama plans to take another look at the pitching staff to see if there are any arms in the bullpen that might be able to give the starting rotation a boost next season.

"[I want to know] who can start games.  I want to change things around by looking over the team as a whole and rethinking things.  Relievers are important, but not if starters are giving up runs," Kuriyama said.

Yuki Saito started a Phoenix League game against Hanwha on Thursday.  He gave up three runs on six hits over six innings of work.  He threw 102 pitches and struck out six.  He made the start on six days of rest.  Saito is scheduled to get one more Phoenix League start.

Softbank Hawks

Fall practices for Ichi-gun and San-gun players are being held at YafuOku Dome.  San-gun players are being told to ask Seiichi Uchikawa and Yuya Hasegawa questions they might have about what it takes to become a professional player.
