A special owners meeting was held at a hotel in Tokyo today. Among the things discussed:
- The third-party panel's follow-up report was reviewed. Owners agreed that structural changes needed to be made. Punishments for those involved were decided on, but not made public. The owners do not plan to punish Ryozo Kato since he has already announced his resignation.
- Punishments will be reviewed and confirmed during a meeting on the 23rd. Assuming everything is fine, the results will be released.
- Owners could not agree on a single candidate to take over as the next commissioner. Orix Buffaloes' owner and owner meeting chairman Yoshihiko Miyauchi will take over as interim commissioner. The owners will try to select a new commissioner by December 31.
- Former Orix Buffalo vice president and current Aozora Bank director Shunsuke Takeda will act as interim NPB chairman.

Regarding commissioner candidates, the Central League recommended current NPB adviser Katsuhiko Kumazaki. The Pacific League offered at least two candidates: Toshihiko Fukui and Yasuhide Uno. Additionally, the Central League is pushing for someone that can help make organizational changes to the NPB while the Pacific League wants someone that can improve the financial bottom line.
