  • 5th round draft pick Takayuki Yamaguchi was cut from the Toyota team in October 2011 because he had problems keeping up and experienced difficulties with his lower back.  He spent the next year working out on his own.  In January 2013, he managed to land a spot on the Toyota Higashi Nihon team and stuck.  The Lions see Yamaguchi as an arm out of the bullpen.  It should also be noted that teams were interested in him when he was in high school, but he decided to skip the draft because of right elbow problems.
