Yokohama Bay Stars

Chunichi Dragons

  • Team officials met 3rd round draft pick Iori Katsura at Osaka Shogyo University on Wednesday.  He has a strong arm and can make the throw from home to second after catching the ball in 1.85 seconds. [Nikkan Sports 10/30/2013]
  • The Dragons also met 2nd round Ikusei draft pick Daisuke Hashizume at Osaka Shogyo University on Wednesday.  Chunichi could not select a middle infielder during the regular draft and went with him in the Ikusei draft because he seemed like an interesting switch-hitting prospect.  Hashizume is confident in his defense at both second and short. • 5th round draft pick Shoya Yamamoto is not as interested in improving his velocity as he is in improving his control.  He lists Masaru Takeda as a pitcher he would like to emulate.  Yamamoto tops out at 142km/h, but generally throws in the mid-130s.  He also has something of a "tricky" delivery -- he does a good job of hiding the ball with his arm angle and hitters struggle a bit with timing his motion because his right leg does not come down as quickly as they might expect.
