The media learned on Friday that Hiromitsu Ochiai signed a two-year deal (with the possibility to extend) and Motonobu Tanishige signed a four-year deal.

The Swallows are planning to increase the number of their advance scouts from three to four next season -- batting practice pitcher/chief scout Koichi Nishizawa will become an advance scout.

Samurai Japan pitchers Shoichi Ino and Kazuki Mishima tossed bullpen sessions on Friday in preparation for a three-games series against Taiwan that begins on the 8th.  They each threw one-hundred pitches.
