Yakult Swallows

  • Team officials met 2nd round draft pick Naomichi Nishiura at Hosei University on Friday.  The Swallows believe Nishiura is ready to play.  They offered him the number three. [Nikkan Sports 11/1/2013]

Chunichi Dragons

  • The Dragons visited 2nd round draft pick Katsuki Matayoshi at a hotel in Takamatsu, Kagawa on Friday. [Nikkan Sports 11/1/2013]

Hiroshima Carp

  • 2nd round draft pick Allen Kuri visited his high school, Okayama Rike University High School, on Friday to give his former coaches and teachers the news about his draft.  It was his first visit to the high school since his freshman year in college [Daily Sports 11/1/2013, Nikkan Sports 11/1/2013]
  • 3rd round draft pick Kosuke Tanaka played in an Industrial League Tournament game against Osaka Gas on Thursday.  He started at short and batted second.  He went 1-for-5 with two RBI.  His team, JR Higashi Nihon, beat Osaka Gas, 7-4. [Daily Sports 11/1/2013]

  • 1st round draft pick Yuta Iwasada threw 154 pitches during his start against Jobu University on Thursday. [Daily Sports 11/1/2013]
  • Team officials met 3rd round draft pick Naomasa Yokawa at Tokyo Nogyo University on Friday. [Nikkan Sports 11/1/2013]
  • The Tigers also visited 6th round draft pick Suguru Iwasaki at Kokushikan University on Friday. [Nikkan Sports 11/1/2013]

Nippon Ham Fighters

  • The Fighters visited 3rd round draft pick Hiromi Oka at the Meiji University baseball facilities on Friday. [Nikkan Sports 11/1/2013]

Chiba Lotte Marines

  • 3rd round draft pick Ryo Miki collected three hits, including a solo home run to left in the 9th, and drove in two runs during Friday's Kanto Region University Baseball Tournament Seminfinals game against Nippon Taiiku University. [Sponichi 11/1/2013]

Seibu Lions

  • The Lions visited 2nd round draft pick Hotaka Yamakawa at Fuji University on Thursday.  Yamakawa stands at 176 centimeters and weighs 100 kilograms.  He has batted clean-up for most of his college career and uses an eighty-seven centimeter bat.  He likes to play the piano to relax -- he cannot read music, but can play songs he has heard.  He is also proficient in Japanese caligraphy (level eight). Rakuten Eagles

  • 1st round draft pick Yuki Matsui has a lot of questions for Masahiro Tanaka and would love to spend some time with him.  He is particularly interested in asking the ace for advice on breaking pitches, especially the splitter.   • 7th round draft pick Kazutomo Aihara started an Industrial League Tournament game against Shikoku Ginko on Thursday.  He gave up two runs on seven hits over seven innings of work.  He faced twenty-seven hitters, walked/hit one, and struck out seven.
