Announced Starters for Game 6

Tomoyuki Sugano (Yomiuri) vs Masahiro Tanaka (Rakuten)

Rakuten Eagles

Kazuya Fujita did not participate in practices at Kleenex Stadium on Friday.  Fujita took an HBP off his left calf during Game 5 of the Nippon Series and suffered a bruise.  Whether he plays on Saturday will depend on how the leg is feeling before the game.

Fujita was seen walking around on his own and said to reporters, "I am fine.  I have a feeling I will be able to play."

Before returning to Sendai, Fujita was examined and treated at a Yokohama hospital that he frequented when he played for the Bay Stars.

If the series goes seven games, Takahiro Norimoto could be available for a relief appearance.

Norimoto became just the second rookie in Nippon Series history to record a win after tossing at least five innings in relief.  The other was Kazuhisa Inao in Game 4 of the 1956 Series (six innings).  He is also the second rookie in Series history to enter a game in relief and pitch into extra innings for a victory.  The other: Shinji Mori in Game 2 of the 1997 Series.

The organization has prepared 4,000 bottles of beer for their celebrations.  That is 2,000 less than what they had ready for the pennant celebrations, mostly out of concern for the cold night air in Sendai.
