The Tigers announced that Takashi Toritani will not exercise his international FA option and will remain with the organization.

The Tigers had infielders work the outfield and outfielders work the infield during fielding practice on Thursday.  The hope is to make sure every player is acquainted with at least one other position, in addition to their own.

INF/base-running coach Nobuhiro Takashiro has told infielders not to dive after the balls during fielding practice for two reasons: to avoid injuries and to get players to use their feet more.  Note: balls are also being hit within the range of each player.

Issei Morita took 180 swings during batting practice on Wednesday and hit forty-three over the fence.

Development coordinator Masayuki Kakefu introduced R. Arai as the next Mr. Tiger during workouts on Wednesday.  R. Arai has unofficially been given the nickname Ko-Mister (or mini-Mister) and Imanari has been dubbed Ko-Kakefu (or mini-Kakefu).  Morita's nickname is Ko-Bass (or mini-Bass).

The trainer Shintaro Fujinami worked with almost exclusively last season will be spending most of his time at Ni-gun next season.  Fujinami will have to get around next year without his assistance.  The coaches are interested in seeing if he is capable of adapting to the changes.
