Team owner Tsuneo Watanabe was not upset about the Giants losing to the Eagles -- he was satisfied with the team beating Masahiro Tanaka and felt Rakuten's Nippon Series win was good for Tohoku. However, in looking to next season and beyond, he told reporters he wanted to see the team win consecutive championships and that he would support and pay for whatever was necessary.

Hiromitsu Ochiai has cut about 360 million yen in salary over the first two days of negotiations. That total jumps to about 550 million if you include Hirokazu Ibata's contract.
Ochiai handed out more cuts in salary on Thursday. Salaries for five players were cut to the maximum twenty-five percent.
