Yohei Oshima knew he was going to see his salary drop after watching so many of his teammates get cuts of their own.  When Hiromitsu Ochiai asked him what he thought during negotiations on Thursday, he replied that a twenty-five percent decrease seemed fitting, to which the new general manager responded by saying, "You are wise."

Ochiai has cut 419.8 million yen in salary over the first three days of negotiations.

Ochiai sat down with twenty-seven players during the first three days of negotiations.  Breakdown on salaries: five players were given raises (8.2 million), five players saw no change in salary, eighteen salaries were cut (428 million).  Of the eighteen salaries that were cut, two went over the allowed maximum (allowed so long as the player accepts it) and nine were at the allowed maximum.
