According to Sponichi, Imae may have received a two-year deal worth a total 400 million yen.

"I made this decision after thinking long and hard.  Lotte brought me up.  I want to help this team win pennants and championships with support from the best fans in Japan," Imae said.

He added, "Players from our championship teams, like Yasuhiko Yabuta, Shingo Ono, and Shunsuke Watanabe will not be with us next year.  That is why I would like to become the kind of player that can lead this team."
