Hanshin Tigers

Development coordinator Masayuki Kakefu believes Fumiya Hojo has the potential to succeed, so long as he stops trying to be the hitter he was in high school.

"There is no doubt he has potential.  But right now, if he is going to play for Hanshin, if he keeps trying to be that high school player that hit two home runs to center, he will never become an every day player.  There is no need for him to completely cut that portion out of his thinking, but he does have to switch gears.  That is what he is currently working on," Kakefu said.

Kakefu advised Hojo on Saturday to shorten his step to decrease the amount of movement in his head when he swings and to improve the use of his lower body.

Sanspo adds that Fujinami is using Kyuji Fujikawa's release point and Yu Darvish's lower body movement for hints on how to improve his mechanics.
