Hiroshima Carp

  • The Carp signed 4th round draft pick Keita Nishihara to a provisional contract on Sunday and assigned him the number forty-eight.  While at Nichidai, Nishihara worked from 6:30am until 3:15pm.  Baseball practices were limited to about three hours.  He has a fastball that tops out at 146km/h and throws a number of breaking pitches like the cutter and two-seamer. Hanshin Tigers

  • The Tigers agreed to terms with 1st round draft pick Yuta Iwasada on Sunday.  They have not yet assigned him a number.  Iwasada has confidence in his slider and cutter, but is still looking for a good out pitch.  He has been advised to try a fork.  He currently weighs seventy-eight kilograms and is hoping to push that up to between eighty-two and eighty-four kilograms.   • 3rd round draft pick Naomasa Yokawa played in a game against Taisho University on Monday and recorded a two-out, two-run home run in his 6th at bat of the game in the 12th inning.  It was the twenty-third home run of his university career.  He went 2-for-6 for the day.
