Yomiuri Giants

The media learned on Friday that Katsuhiko Kumon (21) filed marriage papers with a twenty-six-year-old former nurse living in Hyogo.  They are planning to hold a wedding ceremony some time in December.  The two will begin living together in Kanagawa after the end of fall practices on the 20th.

Yakult Swallows

Tetsuto Yamada is planning to use a Norichika Aoki model bat next season -- made out of maple, about eighty-five centimeters long at about 900 grams.  The bat is similar to the one he used this past season, but with a slightly thicker grip.

Friday's practice game against the Seibu Lions:

Final score: Hiroshima 4 - Seibu 2 ... Takaya Toda entered the game in the 4th and tossed three shutout innings and allowed just one hit.  He topped out at 143km/h. [Daily Sports 11/16/2013]

Hanshin Tigers

Today's practice game against the LG Twins:

Final score: LG 0 - Hanshin 10 ... Takumi Akiyama started the game and tossed three shutout innings.  He topped out at 141km/h, threw forty-seven pitches, and gave up three hits. The offense scored ten runs on thirteen hits.  Four pitchers combined to toss a shutout.  Ryota Imanari started at third and batted third.  He collected two hits.  Ryota Arai was the starting DH and batted clean-up.  He collected two hits, including a solo home run, and two RBI.  In the 7th inning, Naoto Nishida hit a single to center and Ryosuke Ogata hit a double to right to put runners on second and third with one out.  Fumiya Hojo drove in both runners with a single to left. Shintaro Fujinami tossed forty-one pitches in the bullpen on Friday.  He also tried throwing from the wind for the first time since he started making adjustments to his motion.  The catcher was set up about sixteen meters away from the mound.

The session was recorded by four cameras placed in different locations.

Positions for the four cameras: the first was placed in the right-handed hitter's batter's box, the second on the third base side near the mound, the third from the second base side, and the fourth on the first base side.

The Tigers have reportedly agreed on a basic deal for Mauro Gomez.  He will be brought in as a first baseman and will most likely compete for an everyday job with Takahiro Arai.  Hanshin sees Gomez as their new clean-up hitter.

Yokohama Bay Stars

The Bay Stars have a no smoking rule for staff members during work hours.  The media learned on Friday that a Ni-gun trainer was fired after he was caught smoking while on the job.  According to the team, the incident took place in Miyazaki during the Phoenix League in early October.  The trainer was immediately returned to Tokyo after getting caught.  He was suspended for a few days and then fired.
