Yomiuri Giants

Tomoyuki Sugano is planning to spend some time working out in Phoenix this winter.

Sugano will most likely head to Arizona some time in mid-December.  He plans to train through Christmas and the New Year (the schedule will be six hours a day with one day off for every six days of workouts).  He will be in the US for about three weeks.

Sugano will be going with a number of other teammates, including Kentaro Nishimura, Seiji Tahara, and Kosuke Naruse.  One of his goals this off-season is to improve his fastball -- movement, velocity, and control.

Wladimir Balentien's parade in Curacao will take place on the 17th (18th Japan time).  The festivities will begin the moment he steps off the plane.  A ceremony will also be held on the road that was renamed in his honor.

Hanshin Tigers

Saturday's practice game against the LG Twins:

Kazuhito Futagami entered the game in the 8th and needed just eighteen pitches to get through two innings.  He struck out four in a row at one point.  He did not allow any hits or runs and topped out at 143km/h. [Nikkan Sports 11/17/2013] ... Naoto Nishida started at short and batted ninth.  He went 2-for-4 with an walk.  Fumiya Hojo entered partway through the game at second base.  He collected a hit and two RBI.
