Hirata was presented with a few options during contract negotiations and selected the number six.  He apparently did not know that Hiromitsu Ochiai used to wear the number six.  He simply chose the number because he liked it.

The Tigers did not have any plans to release Masayuki Kakefu merchandise, but are now thinking about selling a retro number thirty-one uniform due to high fan interest.  Additional items could follow.

Kakefu was largely against players celebrating on the field with the Gratiii pose this past season.  The team might end up having to scrap everything connected to it, now that he is part of the organization.
