[11/28/2013] Posting system discussions in New York end without resolution, to continue over the phone
Posting system negotiations in New York ended on Wednesday. Both sides were unable to hammer out an agreement, but discussions are set to continue over the phone early next week. According to comments made by NPB official Nobuhisa Ito, the hold-up appears to involve three parties -- large-market MLB teams, small-market MLB teams, and the MLBPA.
According to people close to the discussions, the MLB submitted a completely new proposal. Discussions between the two sides may have included giving posted players the ability to choose from multiple teams and various ways to keep posting fees down to give small market teams a chance.
