[11/28/2013] Yomiuri Giants, Yakult Swallows, Hanshin Tigers

Yomiuri Giants

Ryuji Ichioka was playing winter ball in Puerto Rico but returned to Japan because he sprained hi right ankle.  Mizuki Tsuchida will be sent in his place.

The Giants announced that they re-signed Yasunari Takagi and Takahiko Nomaguchi to Ikusei contracts.  Both players were on the seventy-man roster this past season.  They had season-ending surgeries (Takagi his left shoulder and Nomaguchi his right elbow) and are not expected to be ready for the start of the 2014 season.   They were assigned the numbers 001 and 003, respectively.

Yakult Swallows

Junji Ogawa will be ready to promote and demote players beginning on the first day of spring camp.  He wants to see players in the same kind of condition they were in when they attended fall camp.

Wladimir Balentien has set aside money to help children in Curacao (funds to help promote youth baseball).  He is hoping to do something similar in Japan at some point in the future.

Hanshin Tigers

The first six hitters in the batting order next year could go: Tsuyoshi Nishioka, Yamata, Takashi Toritani, Mauro Gomez, Matt Murton, and Kosuke Fukduome.  The only players with set positions next year are Toritani and Murton.

The middle of the order could also go Toritani, Gomez, Fukudome, and Murton.  Takahiro and Ryota Arai could also make their way into the middle of the order.
