Nippon Ham Fighters

Next season will be a big year for Hisashi Takeda.  He will be in the final year of a two-year deal and he has already decided to retire if he feels he is no longer effective as a closer.

Softbank Hawks

Koji Akiyama visited Softbank headquarters in Tokyo on Friday to give team owner Masayoshi Son a report on the past season.

Rakuten Eagles

Teppei will stay on as the team's player's chairman.  2014 will be his second year.

Three Eagles were presented with Golden Gloves during a ceremony in Tokyo on Thursday.  Players were scheduled to meet with the media after the proceedings, but Rakuten canceled their time slot, most likely out of respect for Masahiro Tanaka -- he is apparently a bit on edge with the constant hounding from the media with regards to the posting system.

Tanaka was presented with the 2013 Mainichi Sports Award on Thursday.  Motohiro Shima was on hand to accept the Mainichi Special Award on behalf of the Rakuten Eagles's organization.
