Chunichi Dragons

The Dragons selected three possible nicknames for Koji Fukutani: Fukuyan, Fukki, and Doctor F.  They asked fans to use their mobile phones to place votes on the one they liked the most during fan appreciation day on Saturday.  Fukuyan came out on top.

Yakult Swallows

Yuhei Nakamura hurt his right elbow during fall camp in Matsuyama.  He was examined at a hospital in Gunma on Friday.  The media learned on Saturday that he suffered an injury to a ligament in his right elbow.  He will not require surgery, but will need about three weeks of rest.

Candidates for next year's opening day start include Yasuhiro Ogawa, Masanori Ishikawa, and Shohei Tateyama.  Junji Ogawa wants to select a pitcher that can anchor the starting rotation over the course of a full season.
