Tetsuya Yamaguchi got an eighty million yen raise during salary negotiations on Wednesday and will make 320 million yen next year.  The 320 million yen set a new salary high for relievers and former Ikusei players.

Yamaguchi also joined Kazuhiro Sasaki, Hitoki Iwase, and Kyuji Fujikawa as the only relievers in NPB history to reach 300 million yen in salary.

Chunichi Dragons

SSK baseball equipment manufacturer held a Pro Staff Meeting at a hotel in Osaka on Wednesday.  Shohei Oshima was there to discuss changes to his equipment for the 2014 season.  SSK changed the spikes on Oshima's cleats from a V-shape to a Y-shape -- there are seven spikes, five in the front and two in the back; four of the five in the front were changed to the new Y-shape.  The Y-shape supposedly helps improve mobility.

Oshima worked out for about two hours at Nagoya Stadium on Wednesday.  He is already playing catch at a short distance (he had right elbow surgery in October).  He has added pool workouts to his training schedule -- he heads to a gym in Nagoya three times a week to spend about three hours in a pool doing various exercises.
