Nippon Ham Fighters

Takuya Nakashima will be moving out of the player dormitory and into his own apartment.  Nakashima used to give a number of younger players, like Shohei Otani, a ride to Sapporo Dome.  The players will now have to turn to other options, like finding another player, taking the taxi, or relying on public transportation.

Seibu Lions

Haruki Ihara set a "no baggy/long pants" rule when he first took on the job as manager of the Seibu Lions for two reasons: he wanted players to look more presentable and was worried that overly baggy/long pants could lead to an injury if a cleat got caught up in the fabric while a player was running.  According to a report by Tokyo Sports, the rule upset some of the players, particularly pitchers, because they felt baggy/long pants were actually protecting their legs from scrapes.  The players and Ihara managed to arrive at a compromise: players will be allowed to wear baggy/long pants during games, but will have to show stirrups during warm-ups.

The players are willing to go along with the other rules: no dyed hair, no facial hair.

Softbank Hawks

Nobuhiro Matsuda will head to Guam in early January for about a week of work outs.  He will continue his workouts at his alma mater Asia University in mid-January.  Other Asia University graduates, teammates Nao Higashihama and Tomoki Takata and Orix Buffalo Yuki Miyazaki, are scheduled to join him.

Rakuten Eagles

The Eagles will be putting up posters of memorable scenes from the past season at various locations in Sendai.  There will be nine different kinds of posters featuring ten players.  A tenth poster will show players tossing Senichi Hoshino up into the air after winning the Nippon Series.  A total 25,000 posters will be printed.

Orix Buffaloes

Chihiro Kaneko met with the team today to discuss his salary for 2013.  Kaneko is slated to earn his domestic FA option next season and the Buffaloes may have offered him a multi-year deal.  He put off agreeing to anything because he wanted more time to think.

The Buffaloes are in the market for another hitter with pop.  They have narrowed their list down to four or five minor league players.

With the addition of Esteban German and Wily Mo Pena, the Buffaloes have two foreign players with prior NPB experience.  At this point, German will replace Aarom Baldiris.  While the addition of Pena can be seen as a move to replace Dae-Ho Lee, the front office is still looking for another power-hitter on the overseas market.  Pena could be considered more as insurance in case the third foreign position player turns out to be a flop.
