Yomiuri Giants

The Giants left for their Central League championship trip to Hawaii out of Narita Airport today.  They will be returning on the 16th.

Yakult Swallows

Yasuhiro Ogawa was given a forty-four million yen raise during salary negotiations today and is set to make fifty-six million yen next season.  That is the highest salary for a Yakult player after their first year.  The previous franchise high of forty-two million yen was set by Ryo Kawashima.

Keizo Kawashima - from double-zero to thirteen
Ryosuke Morioka - from sixty-eight to ten

Hiroshima Carp

If Hajime Matsuda, team owner, is worried about a player, he usually makes him the wallpaper for his mobile phone.  His current wallpaper is Takeru Imamura.  It was Kan Otake before that.  Some players make it a point not to become the owner's mobile phone wallpaper.

Yokohama Bay Stars

Tatsuhiko Kinjo donated five wheelchairs (valued at 200,000 yen), individually autographed, to various institutions in Yokohama.  Kinjo has now donated fifty-two wheelchairs since 2008.
